The Flying Dutchman – Griffon Vulture K07 returned to Bulgaria! [2012-02-06]
After being rescued by our colleagues in Turkey, the Flying Dutchman K07, released within the Vultures Return to Bulgaria LIFE08 NAT/BG/278 Project, was transported back to Bulgaria on February 2nd 2012 with a day delay due to the severe weather conditions.

More Than 2000 Parrots Were Detained at Kapitan Andreevo Checkpoint on the Christmas Evening [2011-12-25]
Only six days after the detention of 12 exotic Toucans, a few hours before Christmas Eve, during customs examination of a mini-bus with a Slovenian registration number, which was crossing the Bulgarian territory, the customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo found a new consignment – this time it consisted of various species of parrots.

Autumn at the Wildlife Rescue Centre [2011-10-12]
The warm summer is long gone, the wonderful summer days passed fast. The baby room of the Rescue Centre, filled with bird noises and chirps is now deserted. The pens, accommodating impatient young storks, buzzards, owls and eaglets are now empty… All these birds were given a second chance in the wilderness.

Green Balkans accepted a fourth young Imperial Eagle in distress for this summer [2011-09-27]
Yet another helpless young Imperial Eagle (Aquila heliaca) was accepted in the Wildlife Rescue Centre of Green Balkans on September 22nd (Independence Day of Bulgaria). The eaglet was found in distress some 8 km away from its nest in the area of Stredna gora Mountains.

An Eagle Owl hatched in the Rescue Centre found dead after its release [2011-09-27]
The young Eagle Owl, released in the end of August in the Rusenski Lom Nature Park had hatched in the Rescue Centre of Green Balkans earlier this year. The bird was the only offspring of the long-term pair of Eagle Owls for this year.

Tail-wind for our young Storks [2011-09-19]
The autumn migration of the Storks started in the beginning of August just as every year for thousands of years. Hundreds of thousands of storks started their epic journey to the South, among them a total of 56 storks, raised in the Rescue Centre of Green Balkans.

Tochkovtsite (The Dots) – two baby squirrels, as small as dots. [2011-09-02]
Three tiny squirrels, two females and one male, whose nest fell in the very center of Stara Zagora after one of the summer storms, were found in a cool morning after the rain by the dog of Ruslana and accommodated in the Wildlife Rescue Centre of Green Balkans.

Bat-woman in the surgery room [2011-08-31]
An adult female Noctule Bat (Nyctalus noctula) undergone a life-saving osteosynthesis. The bat was accepted with a fracture on the right wing which would not allow her to fly.

Five young Buzzards were released today in front of journalists and friends of the cause of the Wildlife Rescue Centre of Green Balkans. Vitosha Nature Park gave the start of their adventures into the wilderness of Bulgaria.
