Great nesting success for the Bearded Vultures of the Wildlife Rescue Centre of Green Balkans

09.03.2018
Exactly seven days after the hatching of the first Bearded Vulture baby of 2018, the second chick of the single pair of Bearded Vultures in Bulgaria, kept at the Wildlife Rescue Centre of Green Balkans, has appeared.

The hatching was once again assisted by the staff of the Rescue Centre, already experts in hatching and rearing these precious babies.

This time we had some concerns about the health of the chick, yet thanks to the persistence of our team and the timely expert intervention of our consultant and friend Dr. Alex Llopis from VCF, the baby is now fine.

As we cannot put the chick back with its parents, who already care after their first chick, we will soon transport the second baby to Vienna, where a foster pair of vultures in Schonnbrunn Zoo is already expecting it.
